Description
A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per fess abased Gules and barry wavy of six Or and Azure, a pale Argent between in dexter chief a fleur-de-lis and in sinister chief a prickly pear cactus of the second, the pale charged with an apple slipped and leafed of the first bearing a white figure 2 and in chief a Roman sword in sheath (From the Spanish War Medal of the third.  Attached below and to the side of the shield a Red scroll inscribed AD OMNIA PARATI in Gold letters.

Symbolism
The colors scarlet and yellow are used for Artillery.  The apple with the white figure 2 alludes to the badge of the old 2d Infantry Regiment, New York National Guard, to indicate the parent unit which was known as the Appleknockers.  The descent of the present unit from the 105th Infantry Regiment thru the 186th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, New York National Guard, is depicted by elements from their coats of arms and the colors blue and white for Infantry.  These elements are the Roman sword, prickly pear cactus and fleur-de-lis.  The organizations three campaign awards for service in the Pacific area, World War II are represented by three wavy blue bars.  The motto translates to Ready For All Things.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 31 December 1962.
